Research interests

Local search,meta-heuristics (tabu search, simulated annealing, genetic algorithms, others), parallel search heuristics. Applications to combinatorial optimization problems (localization, network design, graph/hyper-graph partitioning), electronic commerce (bid selection, distributed auctions), combinatorial design (covering design), bioinformatics (feature selection, classification, over-fitting in biomedical data). The originality of my work is in a multi-thread exploration of the search space based on techniques such as cooperative search and multilevel search. The diversity in the exploration of a population based multi-thread search, the multilevel representation of the search space and cooperation among search threads based on historical data provide an extra layer of information, guiding heuristics which, otherwise, are only provided with local information.
